Globe, Rotary Club of Makati Business District seal partnership for Hapag Movement

Leading digital solutions platform Globe signed a four-year partnership with the Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD) on Tuesday to raise funds for its hunger alleviation program The Hapag Movement, marking a milestone in the initiative.

In ceremonies at The Globe Tower in BGC, Taguig City, Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto, Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD) Charter President Mache Torres Ackerman, and Rachel Harisson, Spokesperson and Hapag Movement Project Manager for RCMBD  sealed the partnership, along with Kate Bellosillo, General Manager of  Kyäni Philippines, a health and wellness company, and renowned chef Jessie Sincioco, President and CEO of The Manna Cuisine Corporation.

RCMBD committed to raising a total of P10 million in funds for the Hapag Movement through various initiatives involving the different Rotary Clubs and its District, individual, and corporate members nationwide. With its commitment, the club is now one of Hapag Movement’s longest-term fundraising partners.

At the event P3 million was turned over to the Hapag Movement– the single largest donation it has so far received. This amount includes P1 million each from RCMBD, Kyäni, and Ackerman, who donated in her personal capacity.

“It has been three years since the pandemic struck and disrupted our way of life, including our livelihoods. Millions of Filipinos experience involuntary hunger until today, as they reel from the impact of the health crisis and recent economic shocks. Our partnership with Rotary comes at a crucial time as we hope to support more Filipinos in dire need. Together, we’ll be able to deliver life-enabling help to our kababayans,” said Crisanto.

“The Hapag Movement, led by Globe, is a noble initiative that aims to address a lingering and fundamental problem afflicting thousands of Filipino families. Its goals are aligned with the Rotary’s mission to advance better health and help alleviate poverty, and so it was such a natural choice for us and our district membership to support,” said Ackerman.

Under the partnership, the Rotary chapter will be tapping its corporate and individual members, alongside their vast network as drivers of the program.

“RCMBD will continue to mobilize its expansive network to raise funds for the Hapag Movement. That is our commitment to this partnership. We will do our best and work diligently to get the support that the Hapag Movement needs to help the hungry,” said Harisson.

The Rotary Club of Makati Business District chapter is also tapping Rotary members in Cebu and Davao to help drive fundraising efforts in the Visayas and Mindanao, through Eric Le Cain, past RCMBD president who is now based in Cebu, and Ralph Ogui Bon Cambronero from Rotary Club, Davao. Together, they will push the Hapag Movement in the South.

“We will activate our members to find creative ways to raise funds for the hungry. That is our commitment to the Hapag Movement,” said Harrison.

The Hapag Movement is a united fight against involuntary hunger led by Globe that leverages partnerships to raise funds and deliver critical support for affected families. It aims to rally Filipinos behind a collective effort to feed the hungry and provide empowering livelihood training, as an estimated 15 million Filipinos continue to suffer from involuntary hunger.

The initiative, which aims to benefit 100,000 families through its four-year course, is in line with Globe’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.

So far, the movement has raised P13.5 million in donations through the help of partners Kumu, AMDOCS, and the, SM Advantage Card (SMAC). It has made an impact on at least 10,000 families through its mobilization partners the Ayala Foundation, Caritas Philippines, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines, and Wor,ld Vision.

Those who would like to send support may donate via the New GlobeOne app using Globe Rewards points. Just follow these steps:

Donations may also be made using GCash through the following steps.

Donations on the Globe of Good website may also be sent via credit card.

Restaurant round-up for the week

“Authentic” is an important aspect of these two restaurant brands from Japan and Korea – Ramen Nagi and Kiwa Express.

“It is true-to-heart Korean food. Not fusion. Not localized. And we offer high-quality Korean cuisine at a very affordable price. The quality is identical to the food that they would sample from Kiwa in Solaire,” said  Dr. David Shim, CEO and owner of Kiwa Express.

Meanwhile, Ramen Nagi is giving us another unbelievable authentic Japanese experience in a bowl.

Visit them soon!

  •  A gift of authentic Japanese ramen

A heartfelt gift from Ramen Nagi’s Ramen Master Chef Satoshi Ikuta-san, the Nori Niboshi King is the sum of in-depth collaboration with Ramen Nagi’s chefs. The Niboshi King is filled with fresh, handcrafted noodles and small dried fish infused with Tonkotsu broth and topped with chashu, peanuts, seaweeds, and the signature Nagi spice blend.

For only Php 590, you can now experience a true Japanese culinary masterpiece.  However, like all good things, the Nori Niboshi King is only available for a limited time only!

For the whole month of February, get a taste of authentic Japanese Niboshi in a delightful bowl in all Ramen Nagi stores nationwide or have it delivered to your doorstep through Grab or Foodpanda.

For more details, check out Ramen Nagi PH (Facebook) or @ramennagimanila (IG).

  •  Premium and affordable Korean cuisine

Kiwa Express opened its doors at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, introducing to mall patrons exceptional Korean dining options at an affordable price point. The quick-service casual Korean restaurant is an offshoot of Kiwa Korean Grill at Solaire Resort, promising to bring premium Korean menu offerings not yet offered by other Korean restaurants.

Dr. David Shim, CEO and owner of Kiwa Express, explains his reasons for this new direction. “I’ve been operating Kiwa Restaurant in Solaire since 2015 and there has been this growing demand from Filipino regulars wanting easier access to my authentic Korean food.”

Kiwa Express menu features items hand-picked by Dr. Shim and classified as Kiwa signature dishes or chef’s special recommendations. He explains his personal recommendation for first-time diners, ”Kiwa Galbitang, the Korean version of bulalo. I will guarantee you that it will make you very happy.” The hearty, nourishing beef stew is a great gateway to the world of Korean food. Beef short ribs are stewed slowly in aromatics resulting in a clean, delicate broth that is a feast to the senses. Dr. Shim also highly recommends the must-try Kimchi Jjigae — a warming, spicy stew highlighting their signature kimchi, Doenjang Jjigae, Jap Chae, and Shrimp Tempura.

Kiwa Express offers authentic and value-for-money Korean dishes.

Kiwa Express in Ayala Malls Manila Bay is the first of many branches already in the works. “This restaurant is our launch pad, the model on which new branches will be based. When this clicks, we already have other upcoming outlets.”

Kiwa Express is located on the 3rd floor, Building B, Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Macapagal Boulevard corner Aseana Avenue, Paranaque City. For inquiries, guests can call (02) 7004 7472 or send a message via Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/kiwaexpress/) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100089962269105).

Artifract.io allows you to own a piece of music and artistry of Music Icon Ely Buendia

Artifract.io, a pioneer in Fine Arts NFTs in Asia, signs a partnership agreement with Ely Buendia, W E U Event Management Services, and Dvent Productions to bring the Pinoy Rock Icon’s music to the Metaverse.  This collaboration allows fans and music lovers to immerse in Ely Buendia’s musical art and unprecedented access to exclusive multimedia contents from the one and only Maestro of Pinoy Rock Music.

The project makes the musical experience immersive and enjoyable, at the same time allowing fractional ownership of Ely’s exclusive musical NFTs. Artifract aims to preserve timeless musical collections by placing them in a metaverse where users, as their avatar personas, can immerse themselves and appreciate works from Ely.

“We cannot wait to bring Ely Buendia NFTs into Artifract’s platform. Our users will be able to appreciate and have access to exclusive fractionalized musical arts. Most importantly, they will own a piece of Ely’s musical art on the blockchain,” said Marvin Agustin, co-founder of Artifract.io.

“We’re excited to be working with Artifract. This new partnership allows us the opportunity to explore other ways of sharing our music in the metaverse. We look forward to curating an exclusive set of musical pieces for our upcoming Web3 project!”,  Ely Buendia said.

The conceptualizing and execution planning started with Ely’s longtime colleagues at DVent Productions and WEU Event Management Services. According to W E U President Francis D. Lumen Jr., “W E U is excited to collaborate with icons and innovators like Ely Buendia and Artifract, to create the next wave of the art content for fans to enjoy and share through blockchain technology.”

“We’re neophytes in this enterprise and relatively new to the digital community, aware of the misgivings of traditional art aficionados and collectors which inspired us to thoughtfully create art featuring both digital and tangible collectible assets that have inherent value in the real world and NFT metaverse,” says Maria Diane Ventura of Dvent Productions.

“Artifract created a platform for creators to digitize their works and to democratize access to it. We’re thrilled to enable Ely Buendia and many more artists, brands, and creators to build stronger relationships and connections with their audiences using the technology we developed at Artifract and UBX,” according to Rico Dela Cruz of UBX.

Under this collaboration, Ely will release his exclusive NFT titled “Flamed Lullaby,” with an Ely-composed  original  tracking/song title called “Hele.”  The artwork is inspired by the Eraserhead’s last 2008 Reunion Concert, where the Sticker Happy Piano was burned and smashed during their final performance of “Huling El Bimbo.”

This never-before-released musical art piece will be heard and appreciated by not more than 2,000 owners of the NFT, which will start at Php 15,000 per fractional NFT, with exclusive royalty rights and printed version of the Artwork plus a certificate of Authenticity.
