Exquisine Global powers ahead with expansion in Vietnam, as Novaland partnership bears fruit

Bangkok, Thailand – Exquisine Global, the international ambassador of Thai cuisine and successful franchisor of Mango Tree, COCA Restaurants, and Yenly Yours around the world, is confidently moving forward with its expansion plans in Vietnam, as its landmark partnership with Novaland Group starts to realize immediate benefits.

These two leading Asian F&B companies announced their ground-breaking collaboration last year, to introduce more of Exquisine Global’s popular Thai culinary concepts to Vietnam. This powerful alliance has already led to the launch of two Mango Tree Bangkok Eatery outlets, bringing upbeat and authentic Thai dining to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest metropolis, and Ho Tram, the world-class resort destination overlooking the East Sea.

From September 2022, these two vibrant restaurants will be complemented by a third Mango Tree Bangkok Eatery in Phan Thiet, the popular seaside town which is easily accessible from Ho Chi Minh City. Exquisine Global and Novaland are now planning to bring their innovative, industry-leading brands to even more diners in Vietnam with a flagship Mango Tree full-service restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City and further openings in popular urban and resort locations across the country.

Vietnam is emerging as one of the most compelling Asian markets for visitors and investors alike, with a large, youthful population and rising affluence. Economic growth is forecast to reach 7.5% in 2022*, as the country rebounds strongly from the impact of the global pandemic. All over Vietnam, new travel, tourism, and leisure infrastructure are creating fresh opportunities for experience-seeking travelers. This attractive Southeast Asian nation is now fully open to international visitors, with no entry restrictions.

Exquisine Global is no stranger to Vietnam, having operated  COCA restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi since 2007. The signing of its partnership with Novaland in 2021 marked a significant escalation of its nationwide expansion strategy, with a multi-brand approach that will target many established and newly-emerging destinations. Vietnamese diners appreciate exceptional dining and Exquisine Global’s diverse collection of concepts, from full-service restaurants to casual cafés, will satisfy this appetite for high-quality Thai cuisine.

“Vietnam is such a hot market right now, and we are delighted to have partnered with one of the nation’s leading players to accelerate our growth in this important country. Our new Mango Tree Bangkok Eatery in Ho Chi Minh City is full every day, which not only demonstrates the rising popularity of our brands but also the fact that consumer confidence has returned to Vietnam and that the F&B market is thriving once again,” said Trevor MacKenzie, Managing Director of Exquisine Global.

The Vietnam expansion strategy forms part of a wider success story for the company. Last year, despite the pandemic disrupting life and travel, Exquisine Global opened 10 new dining destinations in four countries: China, Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam. This growth is being ramped up in 2022, with 25 new outlets set to open in 10 countries and territories, covering six of its industry-leading brands.

The company now operates more than 78 full-service restaurants and casual dining outlets around the globe and is striding confidently towards its target of 100 outlets worldwide.

Taiwan Tour: Getting Closer To Nature

The atmosphere of quiet lushness from the mountain made our stay a whole new experience in getting closer to nature.

Monster Village during the day

Traveling through this side of Taiwan on our second day, makes you appreciate the beauty of the countryside.  In this installment, I will take you to Nantou County, where you can take a glimpse of magnificent views of the outdoors and cold weather at Monster Village and Sun-Link-Sea Forest and Nature Resort.

Photo-op of the group at Monster Village.

Monster Village is one of the most popular attractions in Nantou County. You will like it here because of its captivating scenery and cold weather, which is comparable to our very own Tagaytay City. The place is situated 1,100 meters above sea level – the reason for its cool climate – and you can almost see the mountains and the clouds covering the mountain top. There are all kinds of strange monster statues and the villagers are dressed in Japanese style.

It’s not just a tourist attraction, but a one-stop shop for the guests. Whenever you get hungry, you can choose from one of the restaurants here which served best-selling Taiwan and Chinese dishes.

Stinging Nettle or Biting Cat Bread @ Monster Village. Photo: Me-An Clemente

Interestingly, there’s a particular bread that caught our attention during our visit – the Stinging Nettle bread also known as “Biting Cat” in Chinese. The itchy part is the leaf and locals made it into bread but the inside is very savory and soft, it contains some cheese or some kind of meat as filling. But the highlight of the bread is the stinging nettle leaf on top of the bread.

Our group indulged in the set menu for lunch at Monster Village Theme restaurant. The food arrived in big servings. It was truly a mouthful of dishes served before our very eyes. We enjoyed the food, the company, and the ambiance.

You can also find some souvenir shops for your trip mementos. and a hotel within the village for long-staying guests.

The writer at the Flower Center

We also visited Sun-Link-Sea Forest and Nature Resort. The place has an annual average temperature of about 20 degrees Celcius and is 1600 meters above sea level. The climate is perfect like Baguio City. Here, you can enjoy a different side of Taiwan, far from the city.

You won’t feel perspired and get tired while walking; most of all, you get to enjoy being surrounded by nature. You will enjoy the atmosphere near the waterfalls, the environment surrounded by trees, and a Flower Center, which exhibited some 30 flower species, such as peony, color cabbage, hydrangea, tulip, and Taiwan cherry, fuchsia, etc.

Our accommodation at Sun-Link-Sea Hotel, an elegant building characterized by modern and neo-classical architecture, provided a total relaxation. The atmosphere of quiet lushness from the mountain made our stay a whole new experience in getting closer to nature.

Trending in Asia Pacific: This Season’s 6 Most Anticipated Cocktails from Hilton

Whether on a relaxed lounge at home or in a dimmed bar, one of the best ways to unwind after a long day is with a cocktail in hand and feeling that sense of “aaah”. When it comes to pouring a drink, Hilton’s 2022 global trends report found tequila continues to dominate the spirit industry in the U.S. and many other parts of the world, while in Southeast Asia, gin is the drink of choice. Meanwhile, the sober curiosity movement is picking up speed around the world, with low-to-no ABV cocktails and Cocktail Zero menus rising in popularity.

“A perfectly crafted cocktail can add an extra spark to a hotel or dining experience. As our guests’ preferences have evolved, we’ve continued to cater to their needs by refining our food and beverage offerings globally,” said Alexandra Jaritz, senior vice president of brand management at Hilton, Asia Pacific. “This underscores Hilton’s commitment to delivering best-in-class food and beverage programming. Whether you’re enjoying a drink at one of our bars or in the comfort of your home, we hope this helps you set the scene for a memorable evening.”

Monday Negroni of Hilton Goa Resort

Coco mixologist Rasikta Kamble of Hilton Goa Resort is seeing even the most avid cocktail connoisseurs taking a more leveled approach towards drinks appreciation – especially as zero-proof spirits offer the same levels of craft production without any compromise on taste. This summer, Kamble feels this modern Monday Negroni will be a popular request.

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Sakura Fresh Negroni

  • Garnish: star anise

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice and add Sakura Fresh Negroni and Better than Bitters. Stir for 10 seconds.

  3. Fill an old-fashioned glass with fresh ice and strain the stirred cocktail over.

The illusion of Waldorf Astoria Bangkok

  • 60 ml (2 oz) rock tea-infused Gin
  • 25 ml (0.85 oz) lemon juice

Bageechaa (Sustainability Garden) from Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa

The Bageechaa cocktail from Aura Pool Bar & Cocktail Lab at Hilton Maldives Amingiri Resort & Spa (opening July 2022) is inspired by the zero-waste concept, throwing away fewer “leftovers” and using the full potential of an ingredient. Aura’s version extracts juice from the core of the blood orange while utilizing the skin to make the oleo and the garnish.

  5. Fill shaker with ice and shake well. Fine strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  6. Finish with the garnish – place a nice and clean blood orange peel on top of the glass and place the flower on the peel.

  2. Place the skins inside a zip bag, add sugar and mix it properly with the skins and add salt.
  3. Remove all the air from the bag and let it rest for 24 hours.

Rhubarb Shrub – makes 1 Liter (35 oz)

  • 1 fresh rhubarb
  • 2 lemons (lemon skins)
  • 300 grams of sugar
  • 2 kaffir lime leaves

This delightful food bundle will surely make your dads happy this coming Father’s Day

Dad —  A moniker for what we call the pillars of our home. The ones who had to step up in keeping the family afloat. Being the breadwinner of the family, fathers surely have endured a lot of sacrifices just to make the end of the family meet. Their role to make sure the family gets to eat three times a day has a roof on their heads and ensure every single member is alright, compliments the function of the whole family.

From their everyday involvement in constructing, fixing, and troubleshooting something at home to teaching their kids how to do basic life skills such as cooking and washing, fathers have become a beacon of hope — especially to children. They are being looked up to by their children as they ought to be just like them in the future. They become the role model for every child to follow as they grow up. Most importantly, they help promote inner strength, capacity, and endurance with their affection and support towards their children.

Fathers have always become the symbols of strength and love in the family. They have become legitimate catalysts for the youngsters to look up to.

And knowing now that Father’s Day is just around the corner, it’s just high time for them to be treated extra special on their day to show how grateful we are for their hard work and dedication.
