MIPAM 2026 opens doors for performing arts companies and artists this March

The Manila International Performing Arts Market (MIPAM), organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and CREATE Philippines, positions the Philippines as a melting pot of artistry that spans beyond borders and cultural barriers. Once again, it invites performing arts companies and artists to submit proposals until March 31, 2026, for showcase consideration.

Performance groups and individual applicants for MIPAM 2026 shall submit a proposal, including attached action photos and a one-minute rehearsal video, to mipam@culturalcenter.gov.ph by March 31, 2026. Bold and original works in folk reinterpretation, contemporary, and street-pulse styles are highly encouraged, as well as cross-border collaborations and tech-driven performances.

Successful candidates of MIPAM 2026 will then have the opportunity to present and pitch to partners, producers, programmers, promoters, and presenters whose work or interests align with their artistic visions. The CCP has partnered with various embassies, festival programmers, event organizers, and other industry stakeholders, providing participating artists and groups with opportunities to pitch their projects and performances.

Bannering the theme “Showcasing Asia to the World,” MIPAM 2026 gears towards a market-oriented and capacity-building performing arts ecosystem following its inaugural edition in 2019. Slated from September 11 to 13, 2026, at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Blackbox Theater), it serves as a premier platform for cultural diplomacy and business opportunities that bring Filipino performing arts closer to international markets.

In partnership with CREATE Philippines and the DTI-Center for International Trade and Expositions and Missions (DTI-CITEM), the CCP keeps true to its mandate by spotlighting and disseminating the beauty and essence of all Philippine art forms in MIPAM 2026.

As MIPAM creates a community of audiences, institutions, government agencies, and creative industry stakeholders across diverse cultures, it presents the Philippines as a landmark of innovation, curiosity, and artistic expertise.

Conrad Manila Unveils ‘Creases’ by Meneline Wong in 40th Edition of Of Art and Wine Series

Presented at Gallery C in collaboration with Art Lounge Manila, the new exhibition explores women’s resilience and beauty through 20 mixed-media works that reflect the strength found in imperfection.

Conrad Manila, in collaboration with the Art Lounge Manila, proudly launches the 40th edition of its celebrated Of Art and Wine series “Creases,” a compelling new exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Meneline Wong, M.D., now on view at Gallery C. Curated by acclaimed art expert Nestor Jardin, the collection features 20 mixed-media works that explore themes of women’s resilience, growth, and the enduring strength shaped from life’s imperfections and experiences.

“Conrad Manila, shaped by Hilton’s culture of empowerment and inclusivity, recognizes the remarkable contributions and impact of every woman across our business and in every sector, including the arts,” said Rupert Hallam, general manager of Conrad Manila. “Through this latest installation, we invite our guests and patrons to experience a thoughtful tribute to the vulnerabilities and imperfections that ultimately give women their depth, character, and enduring beauty.”

Creases features 20 mixed-media paintings, each reflecting the enduring strength and quiet courage of women. Through layered textures and expressive forms, the artworks suggest that the “creases” running through each piece are not flaws, but symbols of the struggles, sacrifices, and silent battles carried with grace.

Meneline Wong shared, “If we focus only on the creases, just as society often fixates on women’s supposed imperfections, we miss the fullness of the story. But when we step back, we see that these very creases give the artwork its character and beauty. In the same way, a woman’s beauty does not lie in perfection, but in the courage to rise through adversity. The creases don’t diminish her, they define her.”

Featured artist Meneline Wong and her collection entitled “Creases.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony was graced by esteemed guests, including Peggy Angeles, Executive Vice President of SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation; Susanne Tiausus, Guest of Honor and Managing Director of Art Lounge Manila; Alyssa Valdez, Guest of Honor; Rupert Hallam, Conrad Manila’s General Manager, and featured artist Meneline Wong.

All artworks are available for acquisition. For inquiries and more information, guests and art collectors may contact +632 8833 9999 or email Conrad.Manila.info@conradhotels.com.

About The Artist

Meneline Wong, M.D.

Meneline Wong is a multidisciplinary creative whose work bridges medical science and contemporary art. As a practicing obstetrician gynecologist, she infuses her paintings with an intimate understanding of movement, flow, and organic transformation. Her signature use of gravity and phosphorescence results in luminous, fluid compositions – dynamic drips and radiant hues shaped by both pigment behavior and her intuitive sense of rhythm.

Her artistic excellence has earned national recognition. In 2018, she became the first woman to win a major award in the GSIS National Art Competition, placing 2nd in the Non-Representational Category, and later that year won 1st Place in the Robinsons Land National Art Competition. She continued to gain acclaim as a GSIS finalist in 2019, marking her consistent impact on Philippine nonrepresentational art.

Wong has held numerous well received solo exhibitions, including Luminescence (2019), In Moments Like These (2020), Better Days (2021), Chasing the Sun (2021), Where It All Began (2022), Unbreakable (2023), Puddles of Sunshine (2024), and When Everything Is Possible (2025). Her works have been featured in esteemed galleries such as Art Lounge Manila, Conrad Manila, Galerie Francesca, Galerie Anna, Altro Mondo, Art Elaan, Arte Bettina, Galerie Roberto, and the Art Center. Through each exhibition, Wong continues to illuminate the interplay between science, light, and motion – creating art that radiates vitality and meaning.

City Sophistication: Our Conrad Manila Stay

Conrad Manila delivers world-class luxury and family-friendly comfort for an unforgettable city staycation.

Finding the perfect balance between luxury and family comfort is often a challenge, but Conrad Manila makes it look easy. This architectural marvel, inspired by the cruise ships that grace Manila Bay, offers a world-class escape without the need for a flight or a long drive. It provided our family with an unforgettable, effortless weekend—all while staying right in the heart of the city.

Third floor lobby.

Checking in isn’t usually a highlight, but when you walk into the third-floor lobby and see the massive glass walls framing Manila Bay, you can’t help but stop and stare. The floor-to-ceiling windows flooded the space with natural light, highlighting the hotel’s sophisticated art-filled interiors. It wasn’t just a check-in; it was an invitation to slow down.

A Culinary Journey at Brasserie on 3

While the hotel boasts several award-winning outlets, including the Michelin-selected China Blue by Jereme Leung, C Lounge, Bru Coffee Bar, our family fell in love with Brasserie on 3. This all-day dining destination is the heart of the hotel’s culinary experience, and for good reason.

The breakfast buffet is a vibe of its own. There’s something about eating the food while looking out at the bay that just hits differently. They focus on sustainable, “farm-to-table” ingredients, and you can really taste the quality.

Outdoor dining at Brasserie on 3.

We also did dinner here, and it was a total win for the whole family. Whether you’re a seafood lover (the shrimps, crabs, and salmon were so fresh!) or a steak person, the open kitchen setup makes it feel less like a standard buffet and more like a curated dining experience.

Family dinner at Brasserie on 3.

The restaurant’s philosophy centers on sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, which translates into flavors that are both vibrant and fresh.

The Ultimate Family Playground: The Infinity Pool

If Brasserie on 3 was the highlight for our palates, the swimming pool was undoubtedly the highlight for our spirits. Designed in a unique coral shape, the infinity pool seems to merge directly with the waters of Manila Bay.

What we appreciated most as a family was the thoughtful layout. There is a dedicated children’s pool area where the kids could splash safely, while the deeper sections allowed the adults to enjoy a relaxing swim. Lounging on the sunbeds with fresh smoothies from the Sails Pool Bar, we watched the afternoon sky shift from bright blue to the fiery oranges and purples that Manila Bay sunsets are famous for. It is, without a doubt, one of the best vantage points in the city to witness the “golden hour.”

Smart Luxury and Intuitive Amenities

The hotel offers 347 contemporary rooms and suites. We stayed at the spacious Bay View King Deluxe room, perfect for a family of three. Our room featured intuitive sensors that adjusted the air conditioning and opened the curtains automatically as we entered. The hydrotherapy rain showers and premium Byredo toiletries provided a spa-like experience in the comfort of our own room.

Bay View King Deluxe room.
The bathroom has premium toiletries.

We also visited the Conrad Spa, which offers new restorative treatments inspired by nature and conscious wellness. Moreover, its refreshed menu features soul-satisfying massage and facial rituals enhanced with ISUN Skincare.

For families, the convenience factor is unmatched. Having direct, air-conditioned access to S Maison and the SM Mall of Asia meant that if we needed a quick snack, a visit to the Dessert Museum, or a trip to the cinema, it was only a few steps away.

A Stay to Remember

Our staycation wasn’t just a break from the routine; it was a sensory journey. Between the superb food at Brasserie on 3, the refreshing dips in the coral-shaped pool, and those world-famous sunset views, we left feeling completely rejuvenated. If you’re looking for a luxury retreat that treats every member of the family like a VIP, Conrad Manila is the ultimate destination.

We left Conrad Manila feeling like we would actually had a vacation. No travel stress, just amazing food, gorgeous views, and a lot of family bonding.

InvisaCook — The ‘Invisible’ Induction Cook-top Set to Redefine Filipino Kitchens

The launch of InvisaCook—a concealed induction cook‑top that integrates directly beneath the countertop—represents a pivotal shift in high‑end kitchen design. By removing the visual interruption of a traditional hob, the technology resolves a long‑standing aesthetic obstacle for interior designers and meets the rising market demand for seamless, uninterrupted surfaces in luxury residential and commercial projects. Exclusively distributed by Haig & Lee, the device is integrated into a sleek, custom‑designed worktop fabricated as a showroom piece by Spanish designer Luis Castillo of Linea Casa.

“Designers have been wrestling with the eyesore of a visible hob for years,” notes Mr. Alvin Lim, Haig & Lee’s General Manager. “The moment we learned about InvisaCook—a truly invisible induction cook‑top—and the local penchant of homeowners for seamless, Instagram‑ready interiors, we saw how it will be the kitchen technology of the future and the perfect fit for the local market.”

A hidden heat source, not a hidden compromise

InvisaCook works on the same principle as any induction cooker: an electromagnetic field vibrates the electrons in a magnetic pan, heating the cookware directly. What sets it apart is that the magnetic field is generated from a compact unit that slides beneath the countertop, leaving the surface completely clean. “The technology is powerful enough to send the field through the countertop material,” Lim explained. “Sintered stone is the ideal medium—it’s non‑ferrous, durable, and lets the magnetic field pass without loss.”

InvisaCook table top.

Unlike conventional induction hobs, InvisaCook retains full functionality. It offers precise temperature control, a range of burner configurations (from a single 1‑zone to a 5‑zone layout), and wireless operation via a dedicated app. “You can control the hob from your tablet or phone. With InvisaCook, you get a high-performance cooking hob without the need to sacrifice aesthetics,” Lim added.

Design freedom without limits

For interior architect Luis Castillo of Linea Casa, the device is less a gadget and more a design catalyst. “Because the cook‑top is hidden, we can treat countertops as part of a design instead of as a functional element. For me as a designer this is key to create   unique spaces with pure forms. I appreciate how it allows me to be creative, integrating form and function together,” Castillo said.

“The installation itself is surprisingly swift—once the slab and power are ready, the unit slides in and is hooked up in 1‑2 hours,” Lim noted. “We coordinate closely with the installer to ensure the cut‑out is perfect and the electrical work meets safety standards.”

Castillo adds that the invisible cooktop “creates a seamless, functional and beautiful kitchen, especially for condominiums where space is limited and open plan design provides a premium and unique experience to a home.”

A range to suit every kitchen

Beyond aesthetics, InvisaCook boasts safety features that outclass conventional gas ranges. “The hob won’t heat unless a compatible pan is detected, and it has a foreign‑object‑detection system that shuts down with a flashing red LED and audible alert,” Lim explains. A surface‑temperature monitor also prevents overheating.

InvisaCook is also a genuinely green choice. The hidden heating element means only the counter surface needs cleaning thereby reducing cleaning time and costs. Moreover, with up to 90 % thermal efficiency, the system boils water up to 50 % faster than gas, cuts indoor emissions and reduces HVAC load.

InvisaCook launches with five models, each offering a different burner layout but sharing a common temperature range of 97 °F (36 °C) to 400 °F (205 °C)—comparable to traditional gas ranges. The modular design lets homeowners and commercial chefs alike choose the configuration that best fits their workflow, whether it’s a single‑zone island for a minimalist condo or a five‑zone spread for a flagship restaurant. And for those worried about adopting new technology, InvisaCook comes with a 3 year warranty.

A glimpse of the future

Both Lim and Castillo see InvisaCook as a bridge between technology and tradition. “Filipino homes have always celebrated hospitality and gathering,” Lim mused. “With InvisaCook, the kitchen can remain a warm, inviting space without the visual clutter of a stovetop.” Castillo agrees, adding, “When the cooking surface disappears, the social space expands. You can have dinner parties where the kitchen and dining area truly merge, without anyone ever seeing a burner.”

In a market where design trends evolve rapidly and luxury buyers demand both function and form, InvisaCook may well become the new benchmark for high‑end kitchens. Thanks to Haig & Lee, the Philippines is now able to be a part of this invisible revolution. Haig & Lee’s future plans include InvisaCook’s smart‑home integration and the showcase of InvisaCook’s mobile buffet counters at the upcoming Linea Casa showroom at Bridgetowne in Pasig City.

Homeowners, hotels and high‑end developers can order an InvisaCook directly from Haig & Lee’s by contacting their Business Development Manager, Wilbert Sy, at +639171347304 or they can email info@InvisaCook.ph. They may also visit the InvisaCook Asia Pacific Website at www.InvisaCook-apac.com.

ACC Philippines Celebrates Homegrown Artistry at the ‘A Chorus line’ Gala Premiere Supported by PAGCOR

An evening of world-class theater and shared commitment to the arts marked the gala premiere of “A Chorus Line,” a production of Theatre Group Asia and presented by the Asian Cultural Council Philippines Foundation (ACC Philippines). The special fundraising event gathered artists, cultural leaders, partners, and supporters whose generosity will help sustain the ACC Fellowship Program, providing Filipino artists, scholars, and cultural workers opportunities for international cultural exchange.

In his welcome remarks, ACC Philippines Chairman Ernest Escaler expressed gratitude to the guests for their steadfast support of the arts and acknowledged the strong presence of the ACC community in the audience. He also highlighted the involvement of Filipino dancer and choreographer JM Cabling — an ACC grantee who serves as the Associate Choreographer of the production — citing it as an inspiring example of Filipino talent contributing to and shaping the local performing arts scene.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of the invaluable support of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR). Through PAGCOR’s sponsorship, students and teachers were able to attend the performance, opening the doors of live theater to young audiences and educators and enriching their appreciation of the performing arts.

Global Chairman Josie Cruz Natori also reflected on the legacy of the Asian Cultural Council, founded in 1963 by John D. Rockefeller III to promote international understanding and respect through cultural exchange between the United States and Asia. Since then, ACC has supported more than 6,000 fellowships and exchanges across 26 countries and regions.

In the Philippines alone, nearly 300 artists, art educators, and scholars have received ACC grants. Established in 2000, the Asian Cultural Council Philippines Foundation continues to uphold this mission as a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing Filipino artists and cultural practitioners through international exchange.

The gala premiere was more than a night at the theater—it was a celebration of artistic excellence, meaningful partnerships, and the power of cultural exchange to inspire new generations of artists and audiences alike.

Robinsons Hotels and Resorts Sets a New Landmark for Inclusivity as the Largest Muslim-Friendly Hotel Group in the Philippines

Robinsons Hotels and Resorts (RHR) has reached a historic milestone, becoming the largest hotel group in the Philippines to be certified as Muslim-friendly by the Department of Tourism (DOT).

In a formal ceremony, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco personally awarded the certification to the RHR brand, recognizing its portfolio-wide commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. A total of 22 RHR properties have received this official certification, covering the group’s extensive portfolio including Grand Summit Hotel, Summit Hotels and Resorts, Go Hotels Plus, Go Hotels, and its international brands, The Westin Manila and Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.

The journey toward this landmark certification began with Grand Summit Hotel General Santos, the first RHR property to receive the distinction. Its prayer room has been lauded by the DOT as one of the best in the country, subsequently serving as the blueprint for other hospitality establishments nationwide.

To ensure a seamless experience for Muslim guests, RHR has implemented specialized facilities and services, including dedicated prayer spaces and specialized staff training to ensure hospitality that honors Muslim traditions and preferences.

This initiative is the latest achievement for RHR, which continues to be recognized on the global stage. Recently named “Philippines’ Leading Hotel Group” at the World Travel Awards Asia and “Best Hospitality Developer” at the Property Guru Asia Property Awards, the group views these accolades as a responsibility to innovate.

Barun Jolly, Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts, emphasized that the group is not resting on its laurels:

“This certification is a testament to our deep respect for the Muslim community, which is an increasingly vital and vibrant part of our national tourism landscape. As a multi-awarded group—honored by the World Travel Awards Asia and Property Guru Asia—we are constantly looking for ways to be truly deserving of these citations. By certifying 22 of our properties, we are ensuring our hospitality is world-class and inclusive. We are honored to support the Department of Tourism’s vision of a more diverse and globally accessible industry where every traveler, regardless of faith, feels truly at home.”

The certification of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts, the hospitality arm of Robinsons Land Corporation, marks a significant step in supporting the DOT’s National Tourism Development Plan. By securing the most certifications for a single hotel group in the country, RHR cements its position as an industry leader, advocating for a more inclusive and culturally aware landscape for all visitors. Robinsons Hotels and Resorts is the largest hospitality group in the Philippines with the most diversified portfolio ranging from ultra-luxury to essential value. It has 30 properties in 20 cities and municipalities, with more than 5,000 room keys nationwide.
