Home Credit Philippines snags Gold Stevie® for Diversity and Inclusion

As the company continues to live up to the standards and promote the DEI principles in the workplace and beyond, leading consumer finance company Home Credit Philippines bagged yet again another Gold Stevie® in the tenth annual Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards for the Innovative Achievement for Diversity and Inclusion category.

The company was recognized during a virtual awarding ceremony held last June 27, where all awardees across the Asia-Pacific region commemorated the achievements and innovations of these companies and how they contributed to their respective industries.

“Every day, we celebrate our employees’ diversity in gender, nationality, culture, age, and background. Beyond this, we foster a home where everyone can share their unique perspectives, respect each other’s needs, and reach their full potential without barriers,” said Alpha Omega Aquino, Home Credit Philippines’ Chief People Officer.

She added, “This Gold Stevie® award is an attestation of our commitment to championing and further promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and beyond. And here at Home Credit, we’re proud to say that there are no small roles, everyone is important.”

DEI in the workplace and beyond

Backed by its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG), Home Credit continues to foster diversity and inclusion by creating programs that aim to have meaningful engagement among all its employees.

In April 2022, the company forged partnerships with the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) and the Philippine LGBT Chamber of Commerce (PLCC) to further cement its commitment to achieving gender equality and inclusion in the workplace. The said organizations have guided Home Credit in creating policies, guidelines, and projects that helped the company efficiently promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Pride starts at Home

During this Pride Month, Home Credit held a series of activities to strengthen further its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. These activities were conducted in partnership with its recently formed Pride Club composed of LGBTQ employees and allies.

Home Credit Philippines eyes further growth with its acquisition by Thailand’s Krungsri, Japan’s MUFG

Leading consumer finance company Home Credit Philippines (“HC Consumer Finance Philippines, Inc.”) today announced its new shareholders following the completion of its acquisition by  Krungsri (“Bank of Ayudhya PCL”), the fifth largest financial group in Thailand and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (“MUFG”), a global financial leader from Japan.

The deal was completed with a base value of EUR 406 million (PHP 24.4 billion). The final consideration is subject to one-to-one adjustment based on the equity book value at closing of the transaction.

PPF Group the parent company of Home Credit Philippines based in Czech Republic  sealed an agreement with MUFG and Krungsri to acquire Home Credit Philippines. Krungsri holds the majority stake of 75% and MUFG the remaining 25%.

“We are pleased to announce the handover of Home Credit Philippines to our new shareholders Krungsri and MUFG, both market leaders in the financial industry. Together with our new shareholders, we are opening the next chapter for Home Credit Philippines, building on the high performance that we have set over the past nine years. We are optimistic of our future together,” shared David Minol, Home Credit Philippines’ CEO.

“The acquisition of Home Credit Philippines is a testament to the strong business it has established in the country and the growth opportunity that Krungsri and MUFG have seen for the company to further expand and maintain its dominance in the local consumer finance market,” Minol added.

“I want to put on record, our congratulations to our colleagues at Home Credit Philippines for an incredible job well done,” said Home Credit Group CEO, Radek Pluhar. “Together, we have empowered nearly 10 million Filipinos to access the formal economy, via our innovative products and services. We are proud of these achievements and will be watching the company’s future growth with interest.”

The company has grown to become a market leader having the widest distribution network of more than 15,000 stores nationwide. This allowed Home Credit Philippines to acquire a growing customer base of almost 10 million as of date in its nearly 10 years of operations in the country.

Krungsri President and Chief Executive Officer Kenichi Yamato said, “With the acquisition of Home Credit in the Philippines, we have achieved another significant milestone in our ASEAN expansion strategy through the successful execution of our medium-term business plan. By incorporating Home Credit in the Philippines into its portfolio, the Bank aims to cater to the evolving financial needs of consumers with a full range of innovative consumer finance products and services. This transaction is set to bolster the business operations of Home Credit Philippines as it continues to provide more Filipinos access to credit while building on Krungsri’s expertise as one of Thailand’s finance leaders.

Home Credit Philippines is expected to retain its brand and continue its usual operations under the same local leadership team, with guidance from Krungsri. The company aims to further grow its consumer finance portfolio as it synergizes with both banks.

RUSH launches eStore Charge, the ultimate affordable solution for efficient social selling

RUSH Technologies Inc. (RUSH) introduces eStore Charge, their most affordable eCommerce package that empowers busy entrepreneurs to accept orders and payments from all social pages and messaging apps through one user-friendly platform. It elevates social selling to make order management and fulfillment as efficient as possible.

The solution is tailor-made for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the early stages of digital commerce which rely on Facebook or Instagram shops and similar online platforms. These entrepreneurs often lack the time or resources to maintain their own sales channels.

With eStore Charge, merchants can create checkout links that they can send to their clients to simplify the checkout process. From this link, customers can review, modify, and complete their orders on one web page.

Although conversational commerce helps social media sellers without any cost, the limited features of these free tools still present various challenges, including extensive message exchanges, prolonged checkout processes, and laborious manual order monitoring, among others. Through eStore Charge, businesses can offer an easy shopping experience to their customers and grow with RUSH without moving out of their free platforms- until they are ready to launch their own digital storefront.

“We understand the struggles of micro and smaller enterprises. Social media sellers in particular are keen on growing their online business, but maintaining their own sales channel, even a sales website, is intimidating for them. We are so excited to introduce the cart-linking capability of eStore Charge to address these pain points and help these budding entrepreneurs scale their social media selling without breaking the bank,” said Jeferson Cruz, RUSH’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Julianne Fernandez, RUSH’s Chief Product Officer, added: “Making digitalization easier for entrepreneurs is at the core of what we do, and we want to make every feature as intuitive as it can be. We developed eStore Charge with starting entrepreneurs in mind, making sure that they can operationalize a seamless checkout and order fulfillment process across their existing sales platforms,”

For an introductory price of Php 250.00 per month, merchants can create unlimited checkout links for order and payment acceptance. The offer is valid for sign-ups until May 30, 2023, with a one-year lock-in period. For more information, visit https://www.rush.ph/promotions/estore-charge-offer.

RUSH eStore Charge also grants access to a content management system, where sellers can upload unlimited products, activate secure payment options, build their customer base, and keep track of transaction history. Additionally, the RUSH Merchant app enables inventory updates, order management, and instant delivery rider booking.

David Tse, Rakuten Viber SVP in Asia Pacific, noted in a 2022 statement that conversational commerce will continue to rise in the coming years. RUSH eStore Charge is designed to help entrepreneurs capitalize on this trend.

The Asia CEO Awards 2023 returns to give recognition to these movers and shakers, honoring their commitment to the progressive Philippines.

He says: “By 2019, we were ready to welcome guests to experience Banwa Private Island’s’ concept of informal luxury in a contemporary setting. Hapag Movement raises P13.5M in donations to fight involuntary hunger

Globe’s Hapag Movement has raised over P13.5 million worth of donations to combat involuntary hunger in the country since its launch in 2022, as the digital solutions platform urged customers anew to support the advocacy as millions of Filipino families still struggle to afford proper meals.

Contributions to the cause accelerated during Globe’s on-ground events including the annual 917 GDay celebration in September 2022, with customers’ donations of their Rewards points, which the company matched to send urgent help to those in need. These were complemented by company-initiated donations, corporate partner donations, and by engaging their customer base through various activities.

“As millions of Filipinos still grapple with hunger, Globe believes that addressing this concern is necessary for the country to achieve full and inclusive recovery from the impact of the pandemic. We are very thankful to our customers for participating and being part of the movement,” said Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer, Yoly Crisanto.

During their annual 917 celebration in September, Globe matched all Rewards points redeemed from September 17 to 30 with an equivalent donation to the Hapag Movement. They also engaged their customers in several events throughout last year including the Tay New Fan Meet in Manila, Reach 4 The Stars Fan Meet with Thai actors and Globe endorsers Bright, Win, Dew, and Nani, G Battle Zone, G Music Fest, AcadArena’s CONQuest, Gariath Concepts’ Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS), Head in the Clouds Manila, and many others.

The total amount of donations also comprises internal employee engagements from Globe including:

  • Purpose Tree – Globe’s annual Christmas fundraising effort
  • Gift Local– the company’s annual Christmas bazaar, done in partnership with ChatGenie, an e-commerce solution supported by Globe Business, and in collaboration with some of their key clients, including Lumi Candles, Big AL’s, Daniel Baker, and many others
  • Volunteer activities

Globe also has a growing list of partners to raise funds for the Hapag Movement including:

  • Amdocs, Globe’s long-time vendor partner who’s pledged to monetarily contribute US $12,000 to the cause and mobilize their employees to join the movement by initiating an internal fundraising program;
  • KUMU, the largest social entertainment app in the Philippines, also engaged their content creators and viewers to donate to the cause. They raised a total of 1.9M+ diamonds on the platform during the Hapag Movement Benefit Concert held last December 21, 2022, which drew 10,599 viewers.
  • SMAC (SM Advantage Card), who, together with its sister brands within the SM Group, helped raise funds through customer engagements last Christmas season.
  • The Rotary Club of Makati Central Business District, Ayala Coop, and KonsultaMD’s network of doctors who committed a significant amount to support the advocacy.

Collectively, all their efforts will contribute to reaching the program’s long-term goal of supporting 100,000 families in four years through supplemental feeding and livelihood programs of mobilization partners Ayala Foundation, Caritas Philippines, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines, and World Vision Philippines.

According to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, taken from December 10 to 14, 2022, 3 million families reported experiencing involuntary hunger, an increase from 2.9 million in the previous quarter.

The Hapag Movement is a united fight against involuntary hunger through technology led by Globe and carried out with its partners, the Ayala Foundation, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines, Caritas Philippines and World Vision.

It aims to rally Filipinos behind a collective effort to feed the hungry, as involuntary hunger persisted among millions of families, especially at the height of the pandemic.

This is part of Globe’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UN SDG No. 9, which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.

Those who would like to send support may donate via the New GlobeOne app using Globe Rewards points. Just follow these steps:

Globe, Rotary Club of Makati Business District seal partnership for Hapag Movement

Leading digital solutions platform Globe signed a four-year partnership with the Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD) on Tuesday to raise funds for its hunger alleviation program The Hapag Movement, marking a milestone in the initiative.

In ceremonies at The Globe Tower in BGC, Taguig City, Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto, Rotary Club of Makati Business District (RCMBD) Charter President Mache Torres Ackerman, and Rachel Harisson, Spokesperson and Hapag Movement Project Manager for RCMBD  sealed the partnership, along with Kate Bellosillo, General Manager of  Kyäni Philippines, a health and wellness company, and renowned chef Jessie Sincioco, President and CEO of The Manna Cuisine Corporation.

RCMBD committed to raising a total of P10 million in funds for the Hapag Movement through various initiatives involving the different Rotary Clubs and its District, individual, and corporate members nationwide. With its commitment, the club is now one of Hapag Movement’s longest-term fundraising partners.

At the event P3 million was turned over to the Hapag Movement– the single largest donation it has so far received. This amount includes P1 million each from RCMBD, Kyäni, and Ackerman, who donated in her personal capacity.

“It has been three years since the pandemic struck and disrupted our way of life, including our livelihoods. Millions of Filipinos experience involuntary hunger until today, as they reel from the impact of the health crisis and recent economic shocks. Our partnership with Rotary comes at a crucial time as we hope to support more Filipinos in dire need. Together, we’ll be able to deliver life-enabling help to our kababayans,” said Crisanto.

“The Hapag Movement, led by Globe, is a noble initiative that aims to address a lingering and fundamental problem afflicting thousands of Filipino families. Its goals are aligned with the Rotary’s mission to advance better health and help alleviate poverty, and so it was such a natural choice for us and our district membership to support,” said Ackerman.

Under the partnership, the Rotary chapter will be tapping its corporate and individual members, alongside their vast network as drivers of the program.

“RCMBD will continue to mobilize its expansive network to raise funds for the Hapag Movement. That is our commitment to this partnership. We will do our best and work diligently to get the support that the Hapag Movement needs to help the hungry,” said Harisson.

The Rotary Club of Makati Business District chapter is also tapping Rotary members in Cebu and Davao to help drive fundraising efforts in the Visayas and Mindanao, through Eric Le Cain, past RCMBD president who is now based in Cebu, and Ralph Ogui Bon Cambronero from Rotary Club, Davao. Together, they will push the Hapag Movement in the South.

“We will activate our members to find creative ways to raise funds for the hungry. That is our commitment to the Hapag Movement,” said Harrison.

The Hapag Movement is a united fight against involuntary hunger led by Globe that leverages partnerships to raise funds and deliver critical support for affected families.
