SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) proudly announces that Lanson Place Mall of Asia has been honored with the Outstanding Architecture – Hotels / Resorts (Project Outside of Hong Kong) Gold Award at the prestigious Build4Asia 2026 Awards, one of Asia’s leading platforms celebrating excellence and innovation in the built environment.

Lanson Place Architectural Design Bayfront Facade.

The accolade highlights the exceptional architectural design of the property by Arquitectonica, recognizing its thoughtful integration of form, function, environmental responsibility, and guest experience. Characterized by its bronze metallic curtain wall panels and wavelike fins, the building draws inspiration from the movement of waves along Manila Bay, creating a distinctive landmark within the vibrant Mall of Asia complex.

This achievement reinforces SMHCC’s commitment to developing hospitality destinations that combine world-class design, operational excellence, and meaningful guest experiences.

“Design has the power to shape how people connect with places and create lasting memories,” said SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation Executive Vice President Peggy Angeles. “This award reflects our commitment to building hospitality destinations that are purposeful, future-ready, and centered on the evolving needs of our guests.”

Edible History: How Istorya’s Isang Kusina Traced 400 Years of the Filipino-American Journey

Las Vegas, NevadaFood has always been the vessel through which immigrants preserve their past. To close out Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, Istorya LV, along with Title Sponsor, Mama Sita’s, presented Isang Kusina 2026 at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center, a profound cultural event that mapped more than four centuries of Filipino- American history onto an eight-course tasting menu.

Each dish served as an edible monument to the migrant workers, pioneers, and families who shaped the American landscape.

“Filipino cuisine is more than food: it is memory, family, history, and home,” noted special guest speaker Cecilia Pacheco Morais, granddaughter of the legendary culinary icon Teresita “Mama Sita” Reyes.

The historical storytelling was palpable throughout the night. Chef Rachel Carrillo Barril (In Bocca Al Lupo, Alaska) presented a moving tribute to the “Alaskeros,” the Filipino immigrants who labored in Alaska’s historic salmon canneries. Her course of cured, smoked sockeye salmon with bull kelp atchara, using malunggay flakes and Mama Sita’s all-natural vinegars, was served directly inside a tin can, utilizing Sky Flakes crackers to evoke the resilience of those early laborers. Meanwhile, Chef Cristina Quackenbush’s Lakbay Gumbo paid homage to St. Malo and Manila Village, the mid-18thcentury Louisiana settlements widely recognized as the first Filipino communities in the United States.

Live performance by Ruby Ibarra, NPR Tiny Desk Winner. (Photo by Enrique Malfavon).

Enhanced by live performances from NPR Tiny Desk winner Ruby Ibarra, Jessica Manalo, and Robin Nievera, the evening transcended the typical gala. It allowed attendees to quite literally taste the endurance, adaptation, and triumph of the Filipino-American diaspora.

The Lind Hotels Reimagines Guest-centric Hospitality With New ‘One-Person Promise’

The Lind Hotels is reimagining guest-centric hospitality with its new “One-Person Promise”, a service model that gives guests a single point of contact throughout their stay.

The initiative is designed to replace traditional hotel handoffs with a smoother and personal guest experience.

Developed as part of a broader guest experience transformation across the independent Filipino hospitality brand, the One-Person Promise replaces the traditional separation between front desk, concierge and guest services functions with an integrated Guest Experience team trained to support guests from arrival through departure.

Rather than being transferred between departments, guests are connected with a dedicated Guest Experience host who can assist with everything from transportation arrangements and dining reservations to special requests, celebrations, local recommendations and departure planning.

The model reflects changing traveller expectations, with guests increasingly seeking faster, more personalised and more intuitive service experiences.

“Hospitality has traditionally been organised around departments, but guests do not experience a hotel in departments,” said Pierre Henrichs, Chief Operating Officer of The Lind Hotels. “We wanted to create a model that feels more intuitive and more human. By giving guests a single point of contact, we remove barriers and allow genuine relationships to develop throughout the stay.”

The One-Person Promise is designed to give Lind Boracay guests a single point of contact throughout their stay.

To support the initiative, The Lind Hotels has invested in extensive cross-functional training, equipping Guest Experience hosts with skills that traditionally sat across multiple specialist roles. The company has also introduced enhanced pre-arrival planning, enabling teams to understand guest preferences, special occasions and individual requirements before arrival.

The One-Person Promise is complemented by an elevated Beach & Pool Butler programme at The Lind Boracay, which places greater emphasis on anticipation, personalisation and proactive service.

The Lind Boracay occupies a prime location on Boracay’s world famous White Sand beach.

From preparing loungers before guests arrive and providing refreshments during the day to recognising celebrations and assisting families with young children, Beach & Pool Butlers are empowered to make independent decisions that enhance the guest experience through thoughtful, personalised touches.

While The Lind Hotels does not attribute performance to any single initiative, Henrichs said early indicators have been encouraging, with consistently positive guest feedback alongside growth in both returning guests and direct bookings.

“The One-Person Promise is ultimately about trust,” Henrichs said. “We are giving our people greater ownership, broader skills and the confidence to make decisions that genuinely improve a guest’s stay. The most memorable hospitality experiences are often built through small moments rather than grand gestures, and our goal is to create more opportunities for those moments by giving our people the freedom to deliver them.”
