Hotels in Boracay Newcoast Ready for Muslim Celebrations

Boracay Newcoast, a Megaworld township located at the northeastern part of the island, continues to strengthen its position as a destination capable of hosting meaningful and culturally significant gatherings, demonstrating how integrated townships can evolve to meet the needs of diverse global travelers.

Following a successful celebration of Hari Raya, the 150-hectare township reinforces its readiness to support Muslim friendly tourism not just through infrastructure, but through intentional collaboration, cultural understanding, and community engagement.

The celebration unfolded across multiple spaces within the township, each thoughtfully aligned with the purpose of the event. The day began with a Halal culinary experience led by Chef Tahir Malikol, where Muslim and non-Muslim participants including students, island based chefs, hobbyists, and enthusiasts came together in a shared learning environment. At the Al Fresco, the outdoor dining area across Belmont Hotel Boracay, a bazaar and art exhibit brought together textiles, jewelry pieces, and artworks from different Muslim communities, offering a deeper appreciation of culture through craftsmanship and storytelling.

The evening transitioned into the Hari Raya observance at Cove 2, where prayers were led by an Imam, followed by the symbolic lighting of lanterns with community leaders, representing unity, hope, and shared faith. The celebration culminated in a feast at the Boracay Newcoast Convention Center Garden, where program elements, performances, and the communal sharing of a meal brought together guests in a meaningful expression of togetherness.

From a national perspective, the Department of Tourism recognizes the importance of such initiatives in advancing the Philippines’ position in the global Muslim travel market.

Undersecretary Myra Paz Valderrosa Abubakar notes, “We’re happy to see how much Boracay, through Megaworld Hotels and Resorts with its hotel properties in Boracay Newcoast, is embracing Muslim tourism. Hari Raya is one of the most meaningful celebrations in the Muslim faith, marking the end of Ramadan with gratitude, reflection, and community. Beyond spaces that are readily available within its township, we salute the collaborative efforts of their team for coming up with a meaningful celebration that truly captures the essence of the event. As DOT, our goal is for all service providers to have the enthusiasm to learn new markets, increasing our capability to attract more Muslim travelers to the Philippines.”

Celebrating Culture Through Food

Central to the experience was a thoughtfully curated menu that reflected the rich culinary traditions of Muslim Mindanao, bringing together flavors from various ethnolinguistic groups and communities. From the Kagan tradition, Suwabay, a rice-based staple associated with royalty, and Tininuwan, a coconut infused dish prepared for special occasions, highlighted everyday heritage and ceremonial dining.

Halal cuisine takes center stage at the first Hari Raya.

Maguindanaon cuisine was represented through Linigil, a chicken dish simmered in coconut milk with turmeric and native spices, and Inasakan a Layagan, a stuffed crab dish enriched with coconut and herbs, reflecting deep rooted culinary traditions.

From the Iranun community, Siager Udang, a shrimp delicacy blended with fresh herbs and young coconut, and Sinina a Kambing, a coconut-based goat stew slow cooked with native spices, showcased coastal influences and communal dining practices.

Maranao specialties including Riyandang a Sape, a slow braised beef dish in coconut reduction, and Pindialukan a Manok, a richly spiced chicken dish simmered in coconut milk, brought forward flavors traditionally served during gatherings.

Tausug and Yakan dishes such as Piyanggang Manok, known for its deep smoky coconut profile, and Papaya Bubuk, a vegetable dish infused with native spices, added diversity to the spread, alongside Moro delicacies such as Daral, Dudol, and Sendol, traditionally prepared for festive occasions.

Chef Tahir Malikol shares, “The world knows so little about Muslim Mindanao cooking. That is why it has been my advocacy to partner with brands who support our beliefs and traditions. Working with MHR on conducting a cooking class has been enriching and gratifying, knowing that not only do I get to live my advocacy but also work with a brand who collaborates in amplifying our goal of reaching better appreciation from groups beyond ours.”

For Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, the initiative represents part of a broader and continuing journey, one anchored in both national identity and global inclusivity.

Cluster General Manager Sonny Alvaro shares, “Since 2023, our commitment to helping the country position itself as a Muslim friendly destination only grows stronger. Guided by the Sampaguita, our brand of service anchored on love, honor, dignity, and healing, our hotels in Boracay Newcoast including Belmont Hotel Boracay, Chancellor Hotel Boracay, and Savoy Hotel Boracay are driven to create experiences that go beyond utility. We design gatherings with intention and purpose, ensuring that every celebration is not only well executed, but deeply felt. The more we learn and break barriers, the more we truly get to showcase how Filipino warmth knows no limits in making everyone feel welcomed.”

Supporting these experiences is a growing ecosystem of purpose-built spaces within Boracay Newcoast. Marhaba Beach serves as the country’s first dedicated Muslim friendly beach space, while the Boracay Newcoast Convention Center enables dialogue and community engagement. This is complemented by Savoy Hotel Boracay with its Halal certified dining, alongside Belmont Hotel Boracay and Chancellor Hotel Boracay, expanding the township’s ability to host large scale, multi day gatherings.

As the Philippines continues to expand its reach in the global tourism landscape, Boracay Newcoast offers a working model of how destinations can adapt with purpose, where spaces, partnerships, and shared values come together to create experiences that are not only memorable, but meaningful.

Boracay’s Only MICHELIN Guide-Listed Hotel Enters New Chapter

F+B-led enhancements at The Lind Boracay signal continued momentum in its second decade.

Boracay’s only MICHELIN Guide-listed hotel is building on its recognition with a bold new dining concept and further enhancements across the resort.

The Lind Boracay secured its MICHELIN Guide recommendation in 2025, its tenth year of operation, becoming the sole property on the idyllic Philippines island to ever receive the distinction.

Marking the milestone, the resort has introduced Yím, a contemporary Thai restaurant bringing authentic, chef-led Thai cuisine to Boracay as part of a broader strengthening of its food and beverage programme.

Designed to showcase modern Thai cuisine, Yím presents clean architectural lines, a relaxed yet refined atmosphere and a menu rooted in authenticity that is executed by a resident Thai chef with experience in high-end restaurants and luxury hotels around the globe. The concept adds a new dimension to Boracay’s dining landscape, positioning food as a central driver of the resort experience.

Yím forms part of a sustained focus on culinary quality across the property. Elsewhere, Crust serves creative Mediterranean-influenced dishes in an airy beachfront setting. It’s a place where golden sunsets ease into long and leisurely evenings with live entertainment and regular themed culinary events.

Real-deal Thai flavours are front and centre at Yím, the latest addition to the dining component at The Lind Boracay.

In the mornings, an extensive breakfast spread featuring continental and Asian favourites, flaky just-baked pastries, fresh juices and barista coffee gets the day off to an ideal start.

Throughout the day, the kitchen continues the theme of freshness with hand-stretched pizzas, house-made pastas and oven-warm breads prepared to order

Together with its bar programme, the resort’s outlets reinforce a deliberate move toward destination-led dining within a beachfront environment.

“Being recognised by the MICHELIN Guide in our tenth year was a significant moment for us, not as an endpoint but as validation of the standards we have been refining since we opened,” says Pierre Henrichs, Chief Operating Officer of The Lind Hotels.

“Boracay is one of Asia’s most iconic island destinations, and our focus has always been consistency — from room presentation and operational detail to the warmth of our Filipino service culture. The past decade has been about building that foundation. Now we are strengthening it.”

That consistency extends beyond dining. Situated on the coveted Station 1 stretch of Boracay’s four-kilometre White Beach, The Lind Boracay is the only lifestyle resort on the island with its own private section of the shoreline.

Yím presents clean architectural lines, a relaxed yet refined atmosphere and a menu rooted in authenticity.

Guests benefit from immediate access to powder-fine sand and calm waters while enjoying a degree of privacy set apart from the busier southern end of the beach. Contemporary design frames expansive sea views, while service remains intentionally warm and unobtrusive.

As the flagship of The Lind Hotels, the Boracay property reflects the group’s commitment to continuous refinement — an ethos visible in operational standards, guest interaction and design-led enhancements across all outlets.

That philosophy is also guiding the brand’s measured expansion into other iconic island destinations in the Philippines, including forthcoming projects in Coron and Siargao.

“The addition of Yím reflects how seriously we take the role of dining within the overall island experience,” Pierre Henrichs adds. “We believe thoughtful design, authentic culinary concepts and disciplined service standards can coexist naturally within a beachfront setting. That mindset defines The Lind brand today and will shape how we grow in the years ahead.”

City Sophistication: Our Conrad Manila Stay

Conrad Manila delivers world-class luxury and family-friendly comfort for an unforgettable city staycation.

Finding the perfect balance between luxury and family comfort is often a challenge, but Conrad Manila makes it look easy. This architectural marvel, inspired by the cruise ships that grace Manila Bay, offers a world-class escape without the need for a flight or a long drive. It provided our family with an unforgettable, effortless weekend—all while staying right in the heart of the city.

Third floor lobby.

Checking in isn’t usually a highlight, but when you walk into the third-floor lobby and see the massive glass walls framing Manila Bay, you can’t help but stop and stare. The floor-to-ceiling windows flooded the space with natural light, highlighting the hotel’s sophisticated art-filled interiors. It wasn’t just a check-in; it was an invitation to slow down.

A Culinary Journey at Brasserie on 3

While the hotel boasts several award-winning outlets, including the Michelin-selected China Blue by Jereme Leung, C Lounge, Bru Coffee Bar, our family fell in love with Brasserie on 3. This all-day dining destination is the heart of the hotel’s culinary experience, and for good reason.

The breakfast buffet is a vibe of its own. There’s something about eating the food while looking out at the bay that just hits differently. They focus on sustainable, “farm-to-table” ingredients, and you can really taste the quality.

Outdoor dining at Brasserie on 3.

We also did dinner here, and it was a total win for the whole family. Whether you’re a seafood lover (the shrimps, crabs, and salmon were so fresh!) or a steak person, the open kitchen setup makes it feel less like a standard buffet and more like a curated dining experience.

Family dinner at Brasserie on 3.

The restaurant’s philosophy centers on sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, which translates into flavors that are both vibrant and fresh.

The Ultimate Family Playground: The Infinity Pool

If Brasserie on 3 was the highlight for our palates, the swimming pool was undoubtedly the highlight for our spirits. Designed in a unique coral shape, the infinity pool seems to merge directly with the waters of Manila Bay.

What we appreciated most as a family was the thoughtful layout. There is a dedicated children’s pool area where the kids could splash safely, while the deeper sections allowed the adults to enjoy a relaxing swim. Lounging on the sunbeds with fresh smoothies from the Sails Pool Bar, we watched the afternoon sky shift from bright blue to the fiery oranges and purples that Manila Bay sunsets are famous for. It is, without a doubt, one of the best vantage points in the city to witness the “golden hour.”

Smart Luxury and Intuitive Amenities

The hotel offers 347 contemporary rooms and suites. We stayed at the spacious Bay View King Deluxe room, perfect for a family of three. Our room featured intuitive sensors that adjusted the air conditioning and opened the curtains automatically as we entered. The hydrotherapy rain showers and premium Byredo toiletries provided a spa-like experience in the comfort of our own room.

Bay View King Deluxe room.
The bathroom has premium toiletries.

We also visited the Conrad Spa, which offers new restorative treatments inspired by nature and conscious wellness. Moreover, its refreshed menu features soul-satisfying massage and facial rituals enhanced with ISUN Skincare.

For families, the convenience factor is unmatched. Having direct, air-conditioned access to S Maison and the SM Mall of Asia meant that if we needed a quick snack, a visit to the Dessert Museum, or a trip to the cinema, it was only a few steps away.

A Stay to Remember

Our staycation wasn’t just a break from the routine; it was a sensory journey. Between the superb food at Brasserie on 3, the refreshing dips in the coral-shaped pool, and those world-famous sunset views, we left feeling completely rejuvenated. If you’re looking for a luxury retreat that treats every member of the family like a VIP, Conrad Manila is the ultimate destination.

We left Conrad Manila feeling like we would actually had a vacation. No travel stress, just amazing food, gorgeous views, and a lot of family bonding.

Landco Pacific Partners with ACEN to Power Landco Lifestyle Ventures CaSoBe with 100% Renewable Energy

MVP-led Landco Pacific Corporation, strengthens its commitment to sustainable luxury living through a landmark partnership with ACEN, the Ayala Group’s listed energy platform and one of Asia Pacific’s fastest-growing renewable energy companies.

Through this collaboration, CaSoBe (Calatagan South Beach), Landco Lifestyle Ventures’ (LLV) flagship development that embodies a distinctive resort lifestyle and vibrant leisure-tourism experience in Batangas, will now be fully powered by renewable energy. This milestone reinforces its standing as a pioneering model for sustainability-driven coastal development in the Philippines.

“Sustainability is deeply ingrained in Landco’s DNA. We pursue it not because it’s required, but because it’s the right thing to do. This transition to 100% renewable energy is a significant step for CaSoBe and aligns perfectly with our commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Erickson Y. Manzano, President and CEO of Landco Pacific Corporation and LLV.

“By partnering with ACEN, we are not only ensuring a greener operation for our resort but also offering our guests a truly sustainable and responsible leisure experience,” Manzano further shared.

A Partnership for a Greener Tomorrow

Under this partnership, ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) will supply clean, reliable, and affordable power to CaSoBe, supporting ACEN’s goal of 100% renewable energy generation by 2025 and Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Businesses supplied through ACEN RES earn the “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, a mark of sustainability leadership proudly carried by CaSoBe.

The landmark agreement, facilitated through the Department of Energy (DOE)’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), underscores Landco’s commitment to sustainable tourism and operational excellence, positioning CaSoBē as a leader in environmentally responsible leisure development in the Philippines.

Landco X ACEN for CaSoBe.

The (GEOP) allows eligible end-users with a minimum average monthly consumption of 100 kilowatts to directly choose their renewable energy supplier and shift their power supply to 100% clean energy sources. This empowers consumers to drive the transition to a sustainable energy future.

ACEN RES is currently the market leader in GEOP, holding a 57% market share according to the latest Competitive Retail Electricity Market (CREM) report from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

A Legacy of Purposeful Living

Landco Pacific continues to redefine beachfront investments with destinations like CaSoBe that blend long-term value with mindful living. “Owning a Landco BeachTown property is more than an investment, it’s a legacy,” said Manzano. “With our strong commitment to sustainability, it’s something you can enjoy today and pass on to future generations, ensuring both well-being and environmental harmony for years to come.”

CaSoBe offers mixed-use residential and commercial lots, allowing investors to build sustainable beach retreats, bed-and-breakfasts, or businesses that cater to the tourist market.

Quiet Luxury That Feels Good: Sustainable, Serene, and Distinctly CaSoBe

Located three hours from Metro Manila and renowned for its quiet luxury lifestyle with stunning beach sunsets, the 15-hectare master-planned leisure resort estate seamlessly integrates eco-conscious design, local entrepreneurship, and memorable seaside experiences. The coastal development’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) registration, EDGE certification for LLV with its eco-friendly Crusoe Cabins at CaSoBe, and EDGE Advanced certification for its iconic beachfront condotel The Nautilus underscore its commitment to environmental stewardship.

CaSoBe exemplifies sustainable luxury through a combination of energy efficiency, eco-conscious design, and community-centered initiatives. The Crusoe Cabins reduce energy consumption by 34%, water use by 57%, and embodied energy by 65%, while The Nautilus is projected to save 43% energy, 37% water, and 38% embodied energy. The estate’s design integrates permeable walkways, scenic bike lanes, a double-piping system for water recycling, LED lamp posts, blue-colored roads, and murals of marine life, creating a harmonious connection with nature.

Beyond environmental stewardship, CaSoBe actively engages with the local community through CSR programs, including the Adopt-a-Scholar initiative with Batangas State University and nearby schools, mangrove planting, turtle hatchling releases, and local employment, with 70% of LLV staff drawn from the surrounding area.

Curated Stays and Bespoke Leisure, All in One Iconic LLV Estate – CaSoBe

CaSoBe offers a unique blend of innovative accommodations and leisure experiences designed to delight everyone. Alongside Crusoe Cabins, visitors can stay in the futuristic Apollo Aeropods, which combine novelty and comfort in a serene beach setting. For a more distinctive stay, the geodesic dome-shaped Cupola and pod-like Cocoons offer playful yet stylish retreats, while the 300-sqm Chairman’s Cabin, the weekend residence of MPIC Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, and the 15.5-meter CaSoBe Lighthouse stand as iconic landmarks of the estate.

Adding a signature residential dimension to the estate is The Nautilus — a visionary beachfront condotel whose design draws inspiration from Jules Verne’s legendary submarine Nautilus in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, carved into CaSoBe’s shoreline like a ship anchored by the sea. This homage to exploration and innovation gives The Nautilus an iconic silhouette that reflects both curiosity and elegance, mirroring the sense of discovery that comes with every sunrise and sunset by the water.

The Nautilus offers 171 residential units and five commercial spaces designed for modern seaside living, each with panoramic bay views, generous ceiling heights, and energy-efficient features that blend sustainability with luxury.

Leisure and entertainment abound, from the 300-capacity Canopy events space and dining experiences at Sands and Captain Barbozza restaurants, to the Aquaria Water Park with three-story slides. Active guests can enjoy basketball, volleyball, biking, and island-hopping adventures, ensuring every moment at CaSoBe is a celebration of beachside luxury and playful indulgence.

The estate’s green corridors, walking paths, and direct beach access also encourage wellness and reconnection with nature, offering curated water activities, recreation, and leisure experiences for mind and body.

CaSoBe complements Calatagan’s rich heritage that showcases Cape Santiago Lighthouse, Starfish Island, and premium golf and polo clubs. Recognized as Lifestyle Hotel of the Year at the TDM Travel Trade Excellence Awards 2025, CaSoBe is soon to be rebranded as one of LLV’s Signature Estates, embodying immersive, meaningful experiences where sustainability, luxury, community, and inspired living coexist in perfect balance.

CaSoBe Redefines Laidback Luxury

At CaSoBe, laid-back luxury is defined not just by its spaces, but by the emotions it evokes. LLV’s signature approach creates a destination where families, couples, and loved ones can slow down, reconnect, and make memories by the shore. It’s a place that brings a deep sense of calm, where time stretches gently and the mind can breathe. Its thoughtful architecture and inviting coastal spaces spark a feeling of belonging, as if every corner was designed for shared laughter, lingering conversations, and meaningful moments.

A Sense of Calm

At CaSoBe, calm isn’t just a mood, it’s the rhythm of daily life by the sea. Families arrive and instantly feel the shift: the noise fades, the mind settles, and the gentle soundtrack of waves takes over. Parents find quiet corners to breathe and unwind, while children experience a freedom that only open beaches can give. Morning strolls become slow and intentional, conversations feel unhurried, and even the simplest moments, like watching the tide roll in, turn into shared rituals of peace. This is where the world softens, and loved ones find space to simply be.

A Sense of Belonging

Thoughtfully designed spaces make every guest, from toddlers to grandparents, feel at home. CaSoBe’s architecture blends seamlessly with the natural landscape, creating an environment where families move effortlessly from one experience to another. It’s the kind of place where kids can explore safe, open areas while parents relax under shaded loungers, and where multigenerational gatherings feel natural, from bonding in beachfront cabanas to storytelling sessions under starlit skies. Loved ones feel connected not just to each other, but to a community shaped by warmth, openness, and coastal hospitality.

A Sense of Joy

Joy at CaSoBe comes in many forms: big, bright moments and small, unforgettable ones. Families gather around coastal cuisine that celebrates Calatagan’s flavors, from fresh seafood feasts to comforting Filipino favorites enjoyed with sea views. Kids laugh as they chase waves, couples sneak away for sunset dates, and grandparents savor quiet moments with their grandchildren building sandcastles. Every experience sparks delight: spontaneous photoshoots on the boardwalk, weekend markets showcasing local makers, or beach games that turn into family traditions. At CaSoBe, joy is effortless, abundant, and shared.

A Sense of Connection

Here, connection flows naturally, with nature, with loved ones, and with oneself. The beach becomes a place where families rediscover each other without distractions: holding hands during long shoreline walks, sharing stories around bonfires, or celebrating milestones by the water. The textures of coastal living — warm sand, cool sea breeze, sunlit afternoons, become the backdrop of meaningful moments. Whether it’s reunions, bonding trips, or much-needed getaways, CaSoBe gives families a space to strengthen relationships and deepen the ties that matter most.

A Sense of Renewal

With every visit, CaSoBe awakens something new in its guests. The sea air brings clarity, the landscape inspires gratitude, and the unhurried pace refreshes the spirit. Families leave feeling lighter, recharged, and more connected than when they arrived. It’s a place where parents rediscover balance, kids rediscover wonder, and couples rediscover each other, making CaSoBe not just a destination, but a retreat for emotional renewal. Long after the trip ends, these moments stay with them, calling them back to the shore where renewal began.

A Culinary Journey for the Senses

You can’t truly experience a destination without indulging in its flavors, and Green Nature Resort makes that easy. Their resident Chef brings his Laguna heritage to every plate. My personal recommendation? The Menudong Laguna. It’s a soulful dish from Nagcarlan that hits all the right notes: savory, nutty, and just the right amount of sweet.

Menudong Laguna.

If you’re a fan of traditional Filipino sweets, witnessing the skilled hands of a local espasol maker in action is a must. (We visited Amie’s Special Espasol, mobile number: 0916-6593851.) Watch as they expertly prepare this chewy delicacy, made of sticky rice infused with the delightful creaminess of coconut and the distinctive aroma of toasted ground rice. Savoring freshly made espasol, still warm and coated in its characteristic rice powder, is an experience that lingers delightfully on the palate, a true taste of Nagcarlan heritage.

Exploring Nagcarlan’s Historical and Natural Attractions

While Green Nature Resort offers a wealth of amenities to keep you entertained, its strategic location makes it an ideal base for exploring Nagcarlan’s unique historical and natural attractions. The resort’s friendly staff can help arrange tours, ensuring you make the most of your Laguna experience.

  • A Step Back in Time:  Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery

One of the most remarkable sites near Green Nature is the Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery. This unique historical landmark, dating back to 1845, is a national historical landmark. While the above-ground part looks like a typical chapel, descending the stairs reveals an intriguing underground crypt. This subterranean section served as a final resting place for Spanish friars and prominent families during the colonial period, and later, a secret meeting place for Filipino revolutionaries during the Philippine Revolution against Spain. Walking through the cool, dimly lit chambers, it’s easy to feel the weight of history and appreciate this unusual and fascinating site.

    • Spiritual Solace: San Bartolome Church

Another short trip from the resort takes you to the magnificent San Bartolome Church. This beautiful baroque church, built by the Franciscans in 1583, stands as a testament to Nagcarlan’s rich religious heritage. It is known for its beautiful brick-and-stone façade and iconic four-story bell tower.

Stepping inside, you can admire the stunning architecture and perhaps spend a few moments in quiet reflection, taking in the spiritual atmosphere that has drawn visitors for centuries.

    • Tranquility Found: Yambo Lake

For those who seek the embrace of nature, Yambo Lake offers a serene escape. Often paired with its neighbor, Pandin Lake, Yambo is one of the seven lakes of San Pablo, known for its tranquil waters and lush surrounding scenery. While slightly further afield than the other attractions, it’s worth the short journey. Imagine paddling across the placid lake on a raft, surrounded by verdant forests, with only the gentle sound of the water breaking the silence. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and truly appreciate the raw beauty of Laguna’s landscapes.

Philippines to Host MarketHub Asia 2027: A Milestone on Digital Tourism and Global Connectivity

Mactan, Cebu, Philippines — The Philippines is set to host MarketHub Asia 2027, an exclusive by-invitation-only global TravelTech and tourism marketplace. This marks the first time the prestigious international business-to-business conference will be held in the Philippines.

Slated for the first quarter of 2027, the 6th edition of MarketHub Asia will convene approximately 400 global client-partners, thought leaders, senior decision makers, and digital travel innovators from 16 international source markets, including the Middle East, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Southeast Asia, and Australia, among others.

“With the majority of global tourism transactions now taking place online, it is timely for the Philippines to take a more strategic and proactive approach in strengthening our digital visibility,” said Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.

“By engaging the world’s leading digital distribution partners, we expand our global reach, improve ease of access, and create stronger pathways for inbound travel to the Philippines.”

HBX Group officially announces Mactan, Cebu, Philippines as the host destination of MarketHub Asia 2027. In photo (from left): David Amsellem, Chief Distribution Officer, HBX Group; Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR); Sharlene Batin, Assistant Secretary, Department of Tourism; Loleth So, Group Commercial Director, MHR; Asha Sumputh, CEO and Founder, Waterlily Project Ltd.; and Xabi Zabala, Chief Sourcing and Operations Officer, HBX Group.

“This milestone is significant for the Philippine hotel and tourism industry because its impact extends far beyond a single sector,” the Tourism Chief added. “Global events such as MarketHub create a ripple effect across the entire tourism value chain—from airlines and airports, to hotels, transport providers, food and beverage enterprises, tour operators, technology partners, and local communities. Hosting MarketHub 2027 reinforces the importance of working together as one tourism ecosystem to deliver inclusive and sustainable growth.”

Representing HBX Group, Xabi Zabala, Chief Sourcing and Operations Officer, and David Amsellem, Chief Distribution Officer, underscored the organization’s core strengths and mission. “At HBX Group, our focus has always been on building the digital foundations that allow travel to move efficiently across borders,” Xabi Zabala said. “Our strength lies in our global network, our advanced e-commerce infrastructure, and our ability to connect thousands of travel products and distributors through trusted, scalable platforms.”

“As we continue creating opportunities that connect markets and destinations at scale, the Philippines stands out as a market with so much for the world to discover,” David Amsellem added. “There is real depth and diversity here, supported by an ecosystem that is increasingly ready to engage globally. MarketHub Asia 2027 allows us to connect that potential to our worldwide network in a meaningful, structured, and sustainable way.”

The selection of the Philippines as host also affirms its steady advancement as a competitive Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination in Asia. Continued investments in convention infrastructure and event-ready facilities have strengthened the country’s capacity to stage high-level global events. At the same time, the Filipino culture of hospitality—characterized by warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail—adds a distinct human dimension that elevates every gathering into a meaningful and memorable experience.

Instrumental in bringing MarketHub Asia 2027 to the Philippines is Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, the country’s largest homegrown hotel operator, which will host the event within Megaworld’s Mactan Newtown, a master-planned township designed to support integrated business and leisure travel.

Delegates will be accommodated at Savoy Hotel Mactan and Mercure Mactan, with conference sessions to be held at Mactan Expo, Cebu’s newest large-scale convention and exhibition venue.

Mactan Expo has already demonstrated its capability to host world-class events, having recently served as a key venue for the ASEAN Tourism Forum held in January 2026—providing added assurance of the Philippines’ readiness to host high-level international gatherings.

As one of the more tangible outcomes of the ATF 2026, the three-day TRAVEX 2026 generated PHP 1.43 billion in sales at the Mactan Expo. The ATF meetings among Southeast Asian NTOs and dialogue partners also took place in Cebu City at the NUSTAR Convention Center, the largest venue outside Metro Manila, reinforcing Cebu’s growing reputation in the MICE sector.

Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts and President of the Cebu MICE Alliance, expressed pride in supporting the initiative.

“More than a responsibility, hosting MarketHub Asia 2027 is a privilege and an opportunity to give global industry leaders a compelling reason to rediscover the Philippines,” Albiso said. “Our role is to help create an environment where meaningful conversations take place, partnerships are formed, and global leaders are inspired by the depth of experiences the country can offer.”

She noted that MarketHub has traditionally been staged in globally celebrated destinations. “MarketHub has been hosted in destinations known for setting benchmarks in travel and tourism. With the most recent edition successfully concluded in Bali, expectations are understandably high,” Albiso added. “The Philippines is prepared to deliver an experience that is both professionally executed and distinctly memorable.”

In the first quarter of 2027, Mactan Island in Cebu, Philippines will welcome approximately 400 global client-partners, senior decision-makers, and digital travel leaders from 16 international source markets for MarketHub Asia 2027.

As the Philippines prepares to host MarketHub Asia 2027, the event underscores the country’s strategic push to strengthen its position within an increasingly digital and interconnected global tourism marketplace.

The TravelTech and tourism conference is expected to expand livelihood opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by attracting both domestic and international tourism investments through business-to-business meeting opportunities, further increasing tourist spending on activities, experiences, food, and services.

Through this platform—anchored on data-driven connectivity, digital distribution, and business-to-business collaboration—the Philippines deepens engagement with international partners, expands its global reach, and advances its competitiveness in the evolving travel landscape.

MarketHub is HBX Group’s premier platform for advancing dialogue, collaboration, and innovation—bringing together the global players that power travel bookings through digital distribution, data-driven connectivity, and business-to-business e-commerce.

Dusit Thani Kyoto Earns Two Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Ratings for 2026

Recognition reflects excellence across both the  hotel stay and the integrated wellness experience.

Dusit Thani Kyoto, a refined urban sanctuary that blends Thai-inspired gracious hospitality with Japan’s deep-rooted culture of omotenashi – the wholehearted art of looking after guests – has earned two Four-Star Ratings in the 2026 Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards, recognizing both the hotel experience and its integrated wellness offering in the same evaluation cycle.

The hotel received a Four-Star Rating for the second consecutive year, following its initial recognition in 2025, while its wellness experience, Devarana Wellness, earned a Four-Star Rating for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the hotel’s continued evolution and commitment to refined, experience-led luxury.

Opened in September 2023 as Dusit’s first luxury hotel in Japan, Dusit Thani Kyoto offers guests a serene urban retreat shaped by thoughtful design and careful detailing, where calm confidence, cultural sensitivity, and personalized service are underpinned by an approach that places well-being and sustainability at the heart of the guest journey.

Alongside its integrated wellness offering, which blends traditional Thai therapies with Japanese healing rituals, the same philosophy extends to the hotel’s culinary experiences. Here, seasonality, craftsmanship, and cultural exchange shape dining journeys such as the omakase experience at Kōyō, inspired by Kyoto’s micro-seasons, and the hotel’s signature Thai restaurant Ayatana, which subtly reflects Dusit’s culinary heritage.

These experiences are supported by a strong focus on mindful sourcing, including fresh herbs and vegetables from a collaboration with Ohara Farm and organic tea leaves from the hotel’s own tea farm in Wazuka, both of which guests can visit as part of immersive experiences in nature.

The Forbes Travel Guide recognition builds on a growing body of international acclaim for Dusit Thani Kyoto, including Michelin Key distinctions in 2025 and 2026, as well as a ranking among Japan’s Best City Hotels at the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025, reinforcing the hotel’s standing within Japan’s luxury hospitality landscape.

Makoto Yamashita, Cluster General Manager, Dusit Thani Kyoto and ASAI Kyoto Shijo.

“This latest recognition reflects the steady progress our team has made in delivering service that feels thoughtful and personal across both the hotel stay and our integrated well-being experience,” said Makoto Yamashita, Cluster General Manager, Dusit Thani Kyoto and ASAI Kyoto Shijo. “For us, modern luxury is not about excess. It is about care, cultural understanding, and the confidence to act with intention. Our sense of luxury comes from creating experiences that feel effortless and genuinely welcoming, guided by the same sense of care and responsibility that underpins Dusit’s approach to Thai-inspired gracious hospitality around the world.”

In Japan, beyond Dusit Thani Kyoto, Dusit also operates ASAI Kyoto Shijo, a vibrant lifestyle hotel located in the city’s Shijo-Karasuma area, close to the historic Nishiki Market. Dusit’s presence in the country is set to expand further with the upcoming opening of WE Hotel Lake Toya – Dusit Collection, which will mark the group’s first property in Japan under the luxury Dusit Collection brand and offer a design-led retreat centered on nature, wellness, and understated luxury overlooking Lake Toya in Hokkaido.
