Shanghai World Trade Center Phase III is the new social hub and heart of the community that delivers a vibrant urban village integrated into the pulse of the existing neighborhood.
Jerde (The Jerde Partnership), an iconic and internationally renowned architecture and urban planning studio wins the coveted Project of the Year (Commercial) for their project Shanghai World Trade Centre Phase III in the inaugural Build4Asia Awards held recently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Build4Asia honor developers, architects, interior designers, contractors, engineers, local authorities, etc., who have demonstrated professional excellence in their services and have contributed to the quality and sustainable built environment. The ceremony welcomed over 200 guests from all corners of Hong Kong’s building industry, including the Guest of Honour was Ir. Cary Chan, JP, Executive Director of Hong Kong Green Building Council.
Shanghai World Trade Center Phase III is the new social hub and heart of the community that delivers a vibrant urban village integrated into the pulse of the existing neighborhood. Jerde’s architectural design is composed of two modern towers rising above a commercial podium of diverse programs and amenities, and a low-rise apartment hotel reminiscent of a wooden box. The ‘new Bund’, sized at 132,000 square meters, offers a dynamic range of dining, entertainment, work, and lifestyle destinations all walkable and complementary to its surroundings.
The jury commented, “This project is very much about creating a sense of place. Beyond being a new commercial tower, the tower facades seem well resolved.” Jury member, Robert Gordon, concluded, “Jerde’s design for Shanghai World Trade Center Phase III is a delightful balance for work, rest and play, the development provides an opportunity for a better work-life balance!”
“It is a great honor for us to be recognized by this prestigious award. We see this as validation of our firm’s early push to elevate the workplace environment, programmed and activated, to the changes already evolving in a pre-COVID city, and changes needed in a post-COVID world,” said Phil Kim, Shareholder, Managing Director, Jerde Asia Pacific.
